I have been using the Cron programmed by Ploi on my sites, and I have noticed that in some situations it does not run 100% every time, and there are times when the sites run out of updates and checks due to this error.
One option is to use WP-CLI to run the crons, it works better and always works.
Example of how it can be configured, and maybe changed us as the default or an option when adding, to select which option you want to use.
wp cron event run --due-now --quiet --path=$PATH_SITE
