After you create a server, you'll receive an email with the server sudo & database password.

  1. choose to set these values at the start of the server installation
  2. add an "add to 1password" attachment to easy import the server credentials

I think this solution will not work inside the email with passwords. But! it's perfect for the "show passwords" button/screen when you have disabled 'passwords over email'. Maybe an "Save to" button with simple dropdown so Ploi is able to add more password managers in the future.

Is this still something you'd want? Let me know! I'd also love to know how you like to see this.

My personal preference would be inside the show passwords modal, an extra button for 1password.

Thanks!

Sounds like a great location to me.

When the server is created, First thing i do is open the show passwords modal in ploi and create an 1password item for the server, add the server name, ipv4,internal ip, user:ploi, sudo passwd, database password.

You can find this when you install a fresh server. You'll also need to turn off the "email server password" setting in your profile.

Then you'll be able to grab it from the settings page in your server!

With email server password disabled, will it be displayed only once after creation, or will it remain accessible for a longer period of time?

It will only display once, then it will remove all traces from our system and you will not be able to gather them again.

1password offers different type of credentials, like database, server etc.

It would be great if Ploi's save to 1Password button, would use the right type of data. Currently it uses just the generic one.

Yes, you would say so indeed. Sadly, the package we're using from 1Password doesn't allow 'types':

https://developer.1password.com/docs/web/add-1password-button-website/

https://www.npmjs.com/package/@1password/save-button
