During server creation, I'd want to able to set a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) as server name.

Currently the field has a fair bit of strict rules (no spaces, only numbers and letters and dashes or hyphens). Dennis told me that's because server providers are very strict about this.

Add "dot" as allowed char would fullfill my need. If you're worried about providers rules, you can add extra validations for name with dots in it. eg. If the name contains dots verify that's is a syntatically valid hostname.

Hi! 👋

Thank you for your suggestion, for now, we do not see any value in adding this. Obviously, if you need this you can always manually set this up if applicable.

However we will be keeping this card for future reference, if it gets more upvotes and traction we will reconsider the suggestion.
