After the last automatic apt upgrade nginx seemingly did not start automatically because of a temporary DNS resolving issue.

As the systemd services are installed and managed through ploi and have an option to specifically disable them on reboot, I was of the impression that all services were automatically set to "Restart=always". Apparently, this is not the case.

I've now added [Service] Restart=always to nginx by overwritting the nginx service via sudo systemctl edit nginx.service.

I would appreciate two new festures in ploi:

  1. An option to add Restart=always to a service managed through ploi (should be on by default IMO)
  2. A notification when a service is unexpectadly not running anymore

Automatically restart services managed through ploi
