As of now, your server itself is responsible for renewing the certificates. This is great.

However, what is a little less great is the fact that this is all happening 'silently', you don't really know when a certificate is renewed (and if it succeeded) unless you use a monitoring tool like Spectate or whatever.

Would it be cool that you can set up notifications for certbot renewals? You will then be able to attach any of the notification channels you have in your profile.

Obviously that will count for renewals that were succesfull, but also renewal failures.

I would rather get the negative version of that. So when it fails to renew or is close to expiry. This is also how I do this in Cert Chief (it also has the notification you are proposing but that makes sense for the tool).

I don't need a notification that automation is working as intended. But I do want to know if action is required from my part. Many modern uptime checkers handle this perfectly already but Ploi also doing this certainly can't hurt.

Just don't send a notification on the first failure but let it try a few times before ringing the alarm bells.

My 2 cents 😄
