I can see the ability to clone a site, but what about an entire server? This would be especially useful when you have a load balancer. Need to create a new load balanced instance? Just click clone server.
The load balanced instance example is spot on!
This is so much needed. I was thinking about Cloning my EC2 Instance and then having option in Ploi to recognize it and add it as one of the servers. But I believe Cloning the server from within Ploi is more appropriate. It should be cloning in true sense. So that Load balancing may work flawlessly.
I think this is useful not only for load balancing but also for having a backup server to switch on another provider when something big happens. Once cloning is available, it should be easy to add sync into the mix for this, so the server is "cloned" every X day (or every X hours).
@Dennis Just wondered what the current timeline is for this please?
Got a strong want for cloning due to load balancing, saving me manually doing it for hundreds of sites.
Any Update on this? This would be super damn handy
This would be very useful! If not this then some other way of creating a server template that can be started up really quickly.
it will be great if backup will be not sensitive to Ubuntu version + mariadb version. For example source server is Ubuntu 20 + mariadb 10.3 and destination server is Ubuntu 22 and mariadb 10.6 for example. This will be good for migrating to newer infrastruction also.
This feature is currently live, silently. You can access it via the "Manage" tab on server level.
I would love for some of you to test this feature if possible! 💙
Currently we only allow the normal default server types to be cloned. Once it's stable, we'll open up the other server types.
That's great.. Any detail on What's included in the clone and what not?
The base feature is now live, and as far as we can see, stable. We'll be implementing more details and features soon on this!
Can you clone a server that is unavailable and rebuild on a new machine? Sounds like a really miserable situation where that would be necessary, you say? LOL Asking for a friend....
