Changing site domain doesn't update file backup paths

If you have file backups configured for a site, and you change the site domain, the file backups fail, as they still attempt to backup the old domain's path, which no longer exists.
Would it be possible for file backup paths to be updated automatically when a domain is changed?
If not, maybe there could be an alert to manually re-create the backup configurations with the new paths, as you don't currently seem to get alerted in any way if a backup task fails.
