Notification of failed backups

I would like to have te posibility to receive an notifacation of a backup that has failed including de reason.
I recently discoverd that many of my backups failed but without warning i was under the impression that everything was working fine :)

Perhaps an additional idea.
I find myselve constantly having to check many sites if there is a backup setup or not. It would be greate if we would get an view where you can see all the active backups with the site for which it is and the frequency. And than perhaps a status or warning with a message if it was good or not.
Food for tought perhaps :)
